“Harassing conduct may take many forms, including verbal acts and name-calling; graphic and written statements, which may include use of cell phones or the Internet; or other conduct that may be physically threatening, harmful, or humiliating.

Verbal/ Teasing

    • Verbal bullying can be as harmful as physical bullying.
    • The goal of verbal bullying is to degrade and demean the victim and to show dominance over them.
    Hazing
    • Greek organizations can exhibit bullying in the form of hazing
    • These hazing events can often be dangerous and humiliating. Sometimes done to get an individual that is unpopular to quit a fraternity/ sorority.

Cyber

    • Cyber bullying has become more prevalent today as technology expands and social media sites continue to gain more popularity.

Cyber bullying can take many forms:

    • Sending mean messages or threats to a person's email account or cell phone
    • Spreading rumors online or through texts
    • Posting hurtful or threatening messages on social networking sites or web pages
    • Stealing a person's account information to break into their account and send damaging messages
    • Pretending to be someone else online to hurt another person
    • Taking unflattering pictures of a person and spreading them through cell phones or the Internet
    • Sexting, or circulating sexually suggestive pictures or messages about a person
