EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS

The following is a list of possible external warning signs for physical violence or threatening behaviors. If you see classmates or friends whose behaviors have changed to reflect these signs, they may be at risk. While many individuals may commonly exhibit one or more of the following signs, this does not necessarily mean that they are a potential risk.

These signs in-and-of themselves may serve as initial warning signs:

  • Alcohol or drug use
  • Deterioration in personal hygiene or dress
  • Hyperactivity or rapid speech
  • Lethargic - such as falling asleep in class
  • Observable signs of injury such as cutting, bruises, or burns
  • Unable to cope with a setback

If you or a friend are exhibiting any or all of these signs, you may want to consider speaking with someone who can help. Our resources page has information for various agencies on campus who are ready and willing to assist you with your concerns.
