EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS

The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has identified several different types of threats:

  • Direct
    • Delivered in a clear manner containing a place and target
    • Example: I am going to place a bomb in the school
  • Indirect
    • Vague and unclear
    • Example: If I wanted to, I could kill everyone in this school
  • Veiled
    • Implies but does not explicitly threaten violence
    • Example: We would be better off without you
  • Conditional
    • Extortion cases
    • Example: "If you don't ____, then I will ____."

Threats should always be taken seriously. If you have experienced a threat, contact the authorities right away.
